Serve
At LifeBridge, we believe your service is your ministry.
Thus when you are involved in serving you are actually ministering,
which means you are a "minister." Does that surprise you? Here's what
the Bible says:
“[God] has given... pastors and teachers
[to the church] to prepare God's people for works of ministry, so the
body of Christ may be built up.” Ephesians 4: 11-12
When most people hear the word
minister, they automatically think about a pastor or missionary. But
those aren't the only persons who are ministers. The truth is, if you
are a Christian, YOU TOO are a minister! God wants to use you in
ministry to build up His body--the church. That's the purpose of
ministry. God wants every believer (Christian) to be a body builder—a
spiritual body builder. But you may ask, "Why should I be involved in
ministry?"
The Bible gives us several reasons:
- You've been created for ministry. “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
- You’ve been gifted for ministry. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
- You are commanded to minister. Jesus said, “Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve." Matthew 20:28 (Living Bible)
- You will be rewarded for your ministry. “Whatever
you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not
men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord
as a reward.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
“Well
done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few
things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your
Master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23 (NIV)
