P1:8 stands for Project 1:8.

This title comes from the Bible, in Acts 1:8, where Jesus said to His followers, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

We believe Jesus addressed these words to modern-day believers just as He did to first century believers. Thus at LifeBridge we take seriously His command to be involved with people in different areas so we can be Christ's witnesses--telling them about the life God offers them through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

Since we don't live in the Middle East, we've adapted the locations Jesus mentioned to our situation. Thus you'll hear us talk about our P1:8 missions in Madison (Jerusalem), Canton (Judea), Homestead FL (Samaria), and Haiti (the ends of the earth). We know that there are many other areas we could be involved in, but have chosen to focus on these four areas right now because of our "less is more" philosophy: if we give attention and focus in a few areas, we are likely to see greater impact than if we try to spread ourselves too thin by being involved in many areas.
